THE PROJECT
VideoThe Lakota F.I.E.L.D.S. Project is a private group made up of dedicated supporters of Lakota District Athletics. The group is comprised of a number of parents in the Lakota School District.
The project, being done in phases, is being funded by primarily private donations.  Some of the money will come from the cost savings of installing field turf compared to the upkeep of natural grass.  Field rentals will also pay for the installation.  Donations will make up the rest of the cost of the project.
>While not a Lakota Local School District project, it is supported by the school district.  A committee lead by District Athletic Director Stu Eversole has been formed and is acting in an advisory capacity to the project.

SUPPORT THE LAKOTA F.I.E.L.D.S. AND THE PULSE JOURNAL

Pulse JournalThe Pulse~Journal brings West Chester and Liberty Township the news that’s closer to home, in print every Thursday and online anytime. It is our community’s paper – covering local government, entertainment, sports, business and our school district – news we don’t get from any other source.
Now you can support the paper and the Lakota F.I.E.L.D.S. at the same time. For just $30 a year, you can purchase a subscription to the paper. And when you do, the paper will donate $10 to the Lakota F.I.E.L.D.S.

THE BENEFITS OF FIELD TURF
Lakota East
Lakota West
Extended Usage - Turf is a more durable surface that will allow more frequent field access, as well as access to more sports and activities.
Reduced Injuries - Field turf has proven benefits in reducing sports related injuries.
Reduced Maintenance Costs - Maintenance costs for field turf aretypically less than half of the costs associated with grass.
Field Rentals - Schools that install turf typically receive income from renting the fields toboth local and out of town groups. In addition to the direct revenue to the school district, field rentals can bring in dollars to the surrounding community.

WHO WILL PAY FOR THESE IMPROVEMENTS?
This project will be paid for by private donations, field rentals and reduced maintenance expenses. While the district has already secured substantial financial support from Atrium Medical Center, that funding will not cover the full costs of installing turf. Revenue from rentals and reduced maintenance expenses will help fund the project. If any of those sources of revenue are less than anticipated, private sources will be needed. F.I.E.L.D.S is committed to raising the additional dollars needed to insure turf installation can occur without additional taxpayer expense. If there is a surplus of funds raised via F.I.E.L.D.S., the dollars will be used to fund additional board approved projects (e.g. increased stadium seating). Additional information on how money raised through F.I.E.L.D.S. will be used can be found at The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty website http://wclfoundation.com.
